I'M HAVING
TROUBLE REMOVING MY CANDLE FROM THE MOLD, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Only after its cooled for sometime, place the candle in the freezer for 10
to 15 minutes. This should shrink the wax some and a gentle tap should
release the candle. Be mindful not to leave your candle in the freezer to
long to avoid cracking.
Next time, try using a light coat of release spray prior to pouring.
Always remember to keep your molds clean.
MY CANDLE HAS A PITTED SURFACE, WHAT CAUSED THIS?
The most common cause if this is the wax was too cold when it was pour.
Depending on the type of wax, the pour temperature must be followed.
WHY CAN I SEE AIR BUBBLES UNDER THE CANDLE SURFACE?
Prior to placing your candles in the water bath, tap the sides gently
several times to loosen any trapped air. Alternatively the wax was poured
to fast.
ON MY MULTI LAYERED CANDLES, THERE'S A WHITE LINE WHERE THE
DIFFERENT COLORS MEET, HOW CAN I AVOID THIS?
The second layer of wax was poured at too low a temperature. Cool each
layer but still pour hotter wax on top.
I KEEP HEARING A HISSING NOISE OR BUBBLING, WHAT IS THAT?
There are impurities in the wax or water in the wax. Throw away the
wax. Check your wax source.
THERE ARE CRACKS IN THE CANDLE. WHAT DID I DO TO CAUSE
THIS?
Several factors can cause this. Usually the only reason this happens
is your candle became to cold before topping. However, there may be
impurities in the wax. And sometimes the wick is to small causing the
candle to contract. Try larger wicks.
I THOUGHT I USED THE PROPER WICK VERSUS THE AMOUNT OF WAX
POURED. WHEN I BURNED IT MY CANDLE BURNED UNEVENLY, WHAT HAPPEN?
The wick was not positioned correctly or straight in the mold. When
pouring solids make sure your wicking needle is centered prior and during
pouring. When poking to release air pockets, recheck the position of your
wick.
I MADE A 3X9 SQUARE CANDLE AND WHILE IT WAS BURNING I
HEARD CRACKLING. THEN THE CANDLE SPLIT.
The most common cause of this is water was trapped in your wax prior to
the pour. If your candle just crackles then only a little water was
trapped. If it splits, throw the candle away. It will not burn properly.
THERE'S A FINE LINE AROUND MY SOLID CANDLE, WHY?
The water level of the bath was lower than the level of wax in the mold.
Make sure the water in your bath is equal to the level of wax in the mold.
Be careful not to allow water into the mold.
I HAVE WAX LEAKING FROM MY MOLD. SHOULD I REPLACE IT?
Yes, but you may get more use from it. Check the mold for leaks by dipping
a dry mold in warm water. If water leaks from one or two places in the
seams, try caulking with silicone. This is only a temporary solution and
the mold will need to be replaced soon.
I REALLY ENJOY DIPPING LARGE CANDLES AND SCULPTING, BUT
RECENTLY AFTER EACH DIP I NOTICED LUMPS FORMING. WHAT DID I DO
DIFFERENTLY?
Either the wax was too cold or the first dip was too fast. Smooth out the
lumps while the wax is still warm then re-dip. Make sure the wax is a bit
hotter for the next layer.
